Which Tromsø Reindeer Tour Is Right for You?
Eleven tours, five operators, $111 to $332. No single winner; here's how the camps and prices actually differ.
Eleven reindeer tours run out of Tromsø, from five different operators, at four or five different camps, for anywhere from $111 to $332. No single one wins outright. They split mainly on price, on whether sledding is included at all, and on how far the camp sits from town. A tour costing three times another isn’t a better version of it; it’s often a genuinely different day.

All of these camps are in Sápmi, in northern Norway, not in Lapland: that name belongs to regions of Sweden and Finland. One operator trades under the name “Tromsø Lapland,” which is a business name, not a location.
The tour this page is built around is Reindeer Experience Tromsø’s Reindeer Sledding, Feeding & Sami Culture Experience: the cheapest of the eleven, rated 4.8 from 2,938 reviews, from about $111 when we checked. It’s genuinely different from the others, not just cheaper. You choose sledding or feeding rather than getting both, the sledding runs at a separate camp from the feeding station, and professional photography is included free.
The camps, side by side

| Operator | From | Rating | Sled or feed | Camp |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reindeer Experience Tromsø | $111 | 4.8 (2,938) | Choose one, not both | Not specified in this listing’s data |
| Tromsø Arctic Reindeer (combo) | $197 | 4.7 (6,863) | Both, snow allowing | Not specified in this listing’s data |
| Tromsø Arctic Reindeer (feeding only) | $176 | 4.7 (3,813) | Feed only | “The valley outside the city” (operator’s own site) |
| Tromsø Lapland (feeding) | $176 | 4.7 (2,389) | Feed only | Not specified in this listing’s data |
| Tromsø Lapland (sledding) | $228 | 4.6 (1,528) | Both, snow allowing | Ramfjordbotn, about 45 min to 1 hr out |
| K Ringberg, Lavangsdalen | $219 | 4.9 (261) | Feed only, plus lasso-throwing | Lavangsdalen, about 30 min by bus |
| Arctic Resorts, Camp Tamok | $332 | 4.7 (130) | Both, snow allowing | Tamokdalen, about 90 min each way |
Three evening tours that add a chance of the northern lights, and a snowshoeing alternative with no sled at all, run at similar prices to the ones above and are weighed separately in their own guides rather than repeated in this table.
What is a herd, and how big is it here
A herd is simply the word every operator here uses for its own reindeer group, and the size varies enormously by camp. Tromsø Arctic Reindeer describes a herd of around 300 animals. Camp Tamok, the remote $332 option, keeps only 5 to 6 reindeer on site, a small, multi-activity wilderness camp that also runs husky sledding, not a dedicated reindeer operation the way the others are. That difference in scale is worth knowing before the price tag alone decides which camp sounds most impressive.
If you just want the cheapest well-reviewed way to meet a herd, the tour pinned above already does that.

The eleven tours’ own sledding odds are covered in reindeer sledding in Tromsø; the three evening tours with a chance of the northern lights are compared in reindeer and northern lights; and which operators are actually Sámi-owned is covered in Sámi culture in Tromsø.
